NMU bolster Sales and Development team in the Manchester region

NMU are pleased to announce the appointment of Matt Shaw as Development Underwriter.

Matt has been in the industry for 16 years, performing a variety of roles in both Underwriting and Leadership at RSA Insurance in Manchester.  Starting his career as an Engineering New Business Underwriter, Matt, developed an extensive Underwriting knowledge of Engineering product ranges and progressed to the Senior Underwriter role in 2011.

I’m really excited to be joining NMU, a company with a good reputation for being innovative, flexible and providing access to Specialist products

In 2012, Matt moved into a Leadership role, focused on utilising his market knowledge to develop New Business teams for Construction and Engineering product ranges.

Since 2016, Matt has extended his role to lead New Business Teams across Financial Lines, Property, Liability and Motor.

Matt commented “I’m really excited to be joining NMU, a company with a good reputation for being innovative, flexible and providing access to Specialist products. I’m looking forward to rekindling my passion for getting out into the market, building new relationships and providing access to our Engineering product classes, which has been close to my heart since starting in the industry.”

Matt will focus particularly, but not exclusively, on supporting brokers based in the Manchester region and whilst his specialism remains Engineering lines, he will also be encouraging broker access to all of NMU’s specialist range of products and services.

Nick Green, Sales & Development Manager concluded “Matt is another great appointment for NMU and his vast experience reinforces our desire to have a strong, experienced and technically astute sales team.  We strive to be the best in our field and having decision makers on the front line has always been key to building such solid broker relationships.”

NMU Birmingham’s regional position has also been strengthened by the appointment of Underwriter, Hayley Pywell, on the Cargo & Freight team who joins from Aviva.
